Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo is the name of a form of taekwondo that (as the name implies) originated at Moo Duk Kwan one of the original Nine Kwans of Korean martial arts that arose after World War II. Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo is a form of Traditional Taekwondo, meaning it predates the unification of taekwondo styles that occurred in the mid-1960s and ultimately resulted in ITF-style taekwondo.

The style of martial art taught by Moo Duk Kwan eventually went on to be called Tang Soo Do and then later Soo Bahk Do. There are, however, many splinter forms of Tang Soo Do, of which Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo is one. In other words, Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo can be thought of as one style of Tang Soo Do, in particular a primarily-U.S. version of Tang Soo Do.

In the United States, Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo was one of the first forms of taekwondo to be popularized in the 1970s, in part due to the celebrity of Chuck Norris, who learned Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo while stationed in Korea serving in the U.S. military. In other words, Norris was often cited as a taekwondo practioner in the Moo Duk Kwan style. Norris later went on to create a hybrid version of Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo called Chun Kuk Do
