Ridgehand

A Ridgehand is a hand position in which the striking surface is the thumb-side of the open hand. In contrast, a strike made with the muscled-side of the open hand is said to use the knifehand.

For Ridgehand strikes and blocks, the thumb is tucked into the palm. The striking surface is the side of the first knuckle of the index finger.
