Kim, Woo-Kang 8th Dan Tae Kwon Do, 6th Dan Hapkido. Born in 1938 he started training martial arts at the age of 13 in the province Chun-Ju. Starting with Chung Do Kwan (22nd to obtain black belt) he later moved to Oh Do Kwan until eventually studying Tae Kwon Do. In 1960 he was part of the demo team of General Choi Hong Hi. In 1965 he moved from Korea to West Germany (to the city of Recklinghausen) to teach Tae Kwon Do. From there he became known as "the father of Tae Kwon Do in NRW" (NRW: German abbreviation for the state "North Rhine-Westphalia").

He is known to be apolitical about given styles of Tae Kwon Do and teaches Hyong, Tul, Taegeuk and Poomsae.
